Originally, Regional Training Centres were created from the previously existing Specialist Training Teams to provide training for the United Kingdom Territorial Army (TA). They are administered as part of the local Regional Brigade in that area. From mid-2012 they have been renamed Army Training Units as the ''Territorial Army'' was rebranded as the ''Army Reserve''. They provide initial recruit training for all Army Reserve soldiers, except those joining 4 PARA, SAS(R) units and the Honourable Artillery Company who are trained within their own units.〔(【引用サイトリンク】publisher=4 Div RTC )〕〔(【引用サイトリンク】publisher=MoD )〕 In conjunction with the Officer Training Corps Army Training Units deliver training to potential officers namely through Modules 2, 3 and 5. Module 4 is conducted at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and forms the Army Reserve Commissioning Course.〔http://www.army.mod.uk/training_education/25496.aspx〕 They also continue the role of the Specialist Training Teams in providing courses to qualify TA personnel in Range Management and Marksmanship Coaching, Battlefield Casualty Drills, Defence Instructional Techniques, HAZMAT and CBRN skills. These courses are also attended by Regular Army personnel. Army Training Units are located across the UK, most of the UK population is within 3 hours traveling time of one of the ATUs.
